Known as the "fragrant virgin's bower" this very pretty Clematis has strongly scented panicles of white flowers in late summer, followed by  fluffy seed heads.  It grows to about 12' in height and spreads to around 4'.  It likes moist but well-drained soil and is happy in a sunny south or west facing spot. It grows in clay, chalk, loam and sandy soils and is hardy and deciduous.  Keep the roots and crown of the plant cool and shaded.
