This native of Brazil is a house plant in this country though it's said to be frost hardy to -5C. Flowers can be produced at any time of year and though we can't vouch for it personally, we're told that putting the plant in a plastic bag with a ripe apple will force it into flower within in a month or two. Normally, the 'vase' of the flower should be kept filled with water but if using the apple method, don't do this as it will result in too much humidity. Place in partial shade to indirect light and plant in well draining compost or a bromeliad compost. 5 litre pots
NB: These pots are now so large that we can only sell them to customers coming to the nursery.
