A very rare plant in this country. It is said to be the hardiest of the Heliconias but nonetheless is to be treated as a conservatory plant in UK. It could, of course, be put outside in a pot in summer where its resplendent and showy flowers of red and yellow would make a tremendous focal point. Here, in a greenhouse, it flowers at 8' tall and is still in flower in October.
